Introducing Christchurch Chiropractor,  Dr. Jesse Evans

Dr. Jesse Evans

Like the common misconception of most people, I linked Chiropractic solely with back pain at a young age, and nothing more.  After multiple snowboarding, rugby, basketball….(any sport you can name – I played!) injuries, I was referred to a Chiropractor to help with my on going “back problems”.  The Chiropractor was great, and indeed gave me the quick fix I needed, but never took the time to explain to me how Chiropractic worked, and what it was about, so I only went back when my “back went out”.  When I realized how Chiropractic could not only minimize my back pain(s), but also assist my fellow athletes, I decided I wanted to be a Chiropractor.

I still remember my first day of Chiropractic College in Auckland when everyone was talking about “Wellness” and “Optimum Health”, I had absolutely no idea what they were talking about, as I thought Chiropractic was just about treating sore backs!  So at my very first day at Chiropractic College, a whole new paradigm unraveled of how Chiropractic can allow patients health to increase to its highest level.  Looking back to the days of my “back pain” suffering, I also suffered from severe headaches in my early years, which coincidentally stopped 2 weeks after my first Chiropractic adjustment, I just never made the link between the two.

So now, after seeing patients under Chiropractic care for a number of years and observing the dramatic changes in patient’s health (when their bodies can function to its full potential); from asthma and bedwetting in children, to migraines and depression in adults, to giant number 8’s with a “stuffed back”, I’ve had hands on proof that Chiropractic stuff really works for everybody!

I have completed post-graduate studies with FICS (The International Federation of Sports Chiropractic) to obtain an International Chiropractic Sports Science Diploma (ICSSD).  This diploma  is the minimum qualification required to be part of a FICS chiropractic delegation for a national or international event such as the Olympic and World Games.

Goals of FICS
  • to see that athletes in all sports have access to the specialised skills of chiropractors as part of the sports health care team.
  • to promote excellence in education and practice in sports chiropractic around the world.
  • to promote research in sports chiropractic.
  • to represent the chiropractic profession in sport.
  • to establish National Chiropractic Sports Councils throughout the world.
  • to forge relationships with International Sporting Organisations throughout the world
  • to ensure that the highest levels of professionalism are displayed by our members.

Joining the Roughan Chiropractic Team in Christchurch is an amazing opportunity for me, as it is the fastest growing and quite possibly the largest practice in NZ filled with experienced Chiropractors and friendly Chiropractic Assistants.  I can assure any patient who is seeking to receive the highest level of care, with a smile, this is the place!
