Autumn beauty

Every season has it’s upsides, yet Autumn has a particular beauty of creating an awe-inspiring, ever changing palette of crimson reds, burnt oranges, and vibrant golds which are so enchanting against a bright blue sky and warm sunshine glow.

Letting Go

Mother Nature’s beautiful Autumn palette reminds us of our ability also to change, to adapt, and with Autumn’s falling leaves, to let go.

For most of us, letting go is hard. We hold onto people, things, emotions we’ve grown accustomed to in our lives. Often we want to cling.

Yet when we cling onto things we don’t need we create messy clutter in our lives. Often weighing us down and restricting us from being set free, moving on and growing.

It’s not always easy to let go, autumn leaves do it gradually and so graciously….it’s a process. But only one that you can do.

Isn’t it inspiring and comforting to see in nature that trees are at their most beautiful when they are in the midst of letting go…

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower

Forest Bathing

Autumn is the season for slowing down, self-reflection, and a change in our daily rhythms. Sometimes this time of year can seem to get a bit crazy, as if there is never enough time in the day to get everything ‘done’. We tell ourselves to focus on everything. Focus, focus, focus.

Your brain wasn’t built for sustained focus. The part of your brain that needs to focus can only function for so long before needing a break.

Taking a break, switching off, going for a walk, admiring the beauty of nature, allows our brain time to un-focus, to “do nothing”. Think of nothing but bringing attention to your breath and allowing your Parasympathetic Nervous System to know that all is safe. All is well.

Allow yourself time for a break.

Switch off.

Unplug.

Go for a walk in nature.

Walk in a forest and admire the beauty that Autumn offers as the leaves change colour and fall.

Let Go.
